If I’m Given $50,000…

I just signed up for ASX Sharemarket Games, where each player is allocated a hypothetical amount of $50,000 to invest on shares. Players are competing against each other in achieving the biggest profit from portfolio at the end of the game, which is 14th Nov 2007, about 2 months from now. Anyone can join the game, and player with the biggest profit shall get $1,000 in cash. Pretty interesting and encouraging for people from all walk of life, whether they’re serious investor, or just beginner player who wanna know more about shares in the modern world.

Anyway, I am amazed how fast I can spend my $50,000. With only a few mouse clicks, I’ve converted my hypothetical $50,000 to a number of portfolios, ranging from CBA (Commonwealth Bank), CGJ (Coles Group Limited), WOW (Woolworths Limited), to CCL (Coca Cola Amatil). I’m not quite sure why I picked those companies, maybe because these are the companies I’m quite familiar with. But nothing much to worry. Even if I don’t make profit, it’s okay, I’ve got nothing to lose. In fact experience is the best teacher. Hopefully by the end of this game, I’m mentally ready to join in the world of shares, and make investment and money from it.
