“There’re no boys around, why should I dress up?”
I overheard this girl said that to her fellow female friends when doing groceries in Safeway Supermarket in QV. Then I overheard the friend replied her saying that’s exactly the point. Actually the girls didn’t dress so badly. They looked alright, casually right. Anyway, in my opinion, the main reason people should dress up is to make themselves feel good, boost their own confidence. Not for anyone else. Well, maybe for others to see too, but that should not be the main reason. We could dress up anytime we feel like. So long as it suits the situation. It’s just not funny if I dress in thousand-dollar suits only to go to MSAC Albert Park to play badminton. Or if I wear baseball cap, jeans, and sneakers to a function. Or if I wear sleeveless shirt and short pants to Chapel St. on a chilling winter afternoon. Or if I wear sandals to Crown Casino. Even if the bouncer would grant me entry, Goddess of Fortune won’t be standing behind me lifting my luck. So, in short, dress smart, and dress well.
